Health Care

Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) kill more people in this country than AIDS, breast cancer and auto accidents combined.  Growing awareness of this problem has caused five states to mandate HAI rate reporting by hospitals, while more than 30 other states are considering similar legislation.

Health Care professionals are seeking new strategies to prevent these deadly infections. A recent 3 year hospital study reviewing the use of VIGILAIR® technology in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit suggests that UVGI can significantly impact HAIs.

Airborne Transmission?

Historically, nosocomial infections have been viewed as spread through droplet transmission among equipment, patients and staff. More recently, contaminated ventilation systems have been demonstrated as an additional vector of infection.  In fact, a Centers For Disease Control report acknowledges concern that hospital ventilation systems spread airborne infections.
